Bright Eyes.

Life has been hectic lately. Last time i wrote something of substance I was unemployed and desperate for a job to help pay the bills. Well I now have a job and I’m paying the bills. I have a position at a local restaurant, the hours are hectic and I’m sore at the end of the day, but I’m also happy that I’m doing something and earning some dough. Its weird, ive gone from earning the highest salary in my working life to the lowest and im still happy. It makes me think I should have taken this step years ago when my excuse was, “I don’t mind that I hate my job, I’m just happy making money.” S found this shirt in a pile of crap in our spare room. Its one of the souvenir pieces we got during our trip to New York and Ive pretty much lived in it this week. My birthday is coming up super fast and in the whirlwind that is life I actually forgot! I need to start planning an outfit…

Last night i saw Jerry Hall naked. It was an exciting moment for me and all the old boys in the theatre, she is still as stunning as she was with Mick.The Graduate is currently playing at His Majesty's Theatre in Perth until the 12th of September, i recommend you go have a peek.

Im still waiting for this darn camera to be fixed, i have quite a few things that im dying to show you all, especially this fantastic shirt i found at Opening Ceremony during my trip.  Heres a sneak peak...

Oh Oh and i have EXCITING NEWS! S and i were accepted for the apartment. Moving day is in 2 weeks! I have been in my current place for 1.5 years so im expecting this move be pretty hectic.Perhaps a Garage Sale is in order! Have a fabulous weekend every one.

Life without a camera is TOUGH. Ive had to make the last few photos i took before it broke last days. DAYS i tell you. The camera man said it will take three weeks to fix and "wont be very aesthetically pleasing" as long as it still makes me aesthetically pleasing, i don't mind. 

 Here is the very last picture taken. About two seconds after this self indulgent prance in front of a friends bathroom mirror, the camera met the floor.

 Isn't S's bow tie cute? I look like i have a birds nest on my head.

Mother dearest is in Victoria at the moment, visiting her brother (haaaiiii Bruce!) and her sisters (haaiiii Susan and Julie!) Its a surprise for Julie as she just had a babeh. Don't worry mum, she wont see this. I'm sure she is bypassing my blog at the moment to do mothery things with the child. Humph. 

Well Because i have no way of taking new pics, you will all have to suffer and look at MORE pictures of New York. Soooorrryyyy!! Tune out now if you are sick of seeing New York on here.

 I got my balayage redone today and here is a dodgy web cam shot to show you all! 

For all perth girls i go to Sheer in West Perth. They were the only ones in Perth that knew what balayage was a few years ago and knew exactly what i was after today when i popped in.

Do you likey? 

 S has such a sweet tooth! His mums side of the family are American which has left him with a passion for candy, cake and anything with sugar. I on the hand, rather savoury than sweet, and found all the sugar in the states a bit of an overload!

 Look! 4D glasses and a matching swatch watch! 

We saw The Wizard of Oz in 4D, which meant there was smoke, and lights and even water and shaking seats. Exciting stuff. I'm at home at the moment, relaxing, unpacking and watching Sex and the City. Its fun, i keep recognising the streets and restaurants. What a dag!

Where to start? New York was smelly, loud, extravagant,excessive, friendly and fabulous. 
I miss it all ready!

One morning we woke up at 4.30 just because we were so excited to get outside and explore, we walked all the way to central park and watched the sun rise. 

The poofy skirt above is American apparel, it matches my rose necklace perfectly, i received so many compliments for both, American girls are so friendly! My trusty brown backpack was also a winner, especially with the masses of amazingly dressed gay men that flock to the city. 

 

When i was there I gots my nails did. Minx in the first few shots and then a few Manis afterwards. The manis were so much cheaper and more thorough in the states.

My minx was fun, but it didn't last too long which was disappointing, my polish lasted the same length of time and cost half the price! 

The ring i am wearing is from a flea market and the bag on my lap is my new Marc Jacobs. 

So i don't overwhelm you all with a gazillion pics ill do this in parts. Part two coming soon!

Got back from NYC today and i haven't slept for 2 days.

The land of Make Believe

My necklace came in the nick of time! Yayzies. 

Its just as beautiful as i thought it would be. Each rose looks as though a real flower has been dipped in resin, its that delicate. Also how lovely is the little note?

Im jumping on a jet plane on Sunday so posting will be a tad slow until im set up and actually have some thing to take pics of. Also i think a post dedicated to on board beauty is needed. FRICK it was hard packing every thing i need in a puny little zip lock bag. 

I mean what do they want? Do they expect me to go without makeup for 2 days ??!?

I don't think so.

The King of Queens - Language Warning

S has been trying to get me to go to numerous hip hop shows over the last few years and i finally caved. Out of all the shows he offered, i chose Pharoahe Monch to pop my hip hop cherry. 

The Soulful Mr Monch is playing a show in his home borough of Queens, but we took the safer option and will see him play in Times Square. 

What to wear to a hip hop show while im singing along to the lyrics of Simon Says

"Get the fuck up, Simon says Shut the Fuck up!"

What a lovely weekend. S and i rugged up and rode to get coffee and cake from our local cafe. 

I went to a baby shower for my oldest friend - fun fact, she is naming her girl Skye Rose - Rose is her Sister, Nanna and my middle name so it has a sentimental story behind it.

We also spent the weekend finalising everything for NY. S scored tickets to Pharoahe Monch for our first night in town, that should be a good welcoming to the town!

Minx

aarrrgggghhh sooooo excited to get this done!

i just booked my appointment to get my nails done in New York at the Bliss salon who specialise in Minx nails. Minx is a thin film layer that is stuck over your nail and lasts just over a week. No damage to your nails and you can pick from a range of patterns and pics. The only place i know that does it in Aus is Switch Funky, in Queensland which isnt good for me haha.

ahh Revlon. You really are an old faithful aren't you? I left my Bobbi Brown Brow pencil in York and this morning i couldn't stand being bare browed any longer so i ducked to my local chemist.

Enter Revlon Colour Stay Multi end Brow Enhancer.

At 23 dollars it was half the price of Bobbi and i think just as good. Its waxy though were as Bobbi is chalky... Wax hold the brows down a bit better but its harder to apply?
 I went nuts with the illuminator at the end.. popped it on my top lip/cupids bow, brows and the inner corner of my eyes. Good Stuff!

Ive been thinking/fretting alot lately about what cosmetics i will take on the plane with me, i think its almost like a desert island scenario. I will post about it soon.

I'm interested to know what your desert island prods would be!

Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony, Pre - Spring pics have been released. 
Unlucky for moi items aren't available until December. I had dreams of prancing over to OC when in New York, prancing to the change rooms and then prancing around in these EXACT OUTFITS.But now i will have to settle for trawling the op shops in hope of creating my own cheaper versions before i head off.In other news, here is an adorable picture of S and Mushy sleeping. Yes they spoon every night. allll night.

Thank you so much for your positive comments. I feel confident now to keep my blog name and use it with pride.

One thing i love about blogging is meeting and communicating with so many like minded people, and sometimes after reading a blog for a while i feel like i am almost friends with the author.

Admit it we have all feel this way... right? For me Keiko Lynn is one of those blogs.

This self titled blog is full of adorable pictures of Keiko and her clothing label Postlapsaria, her delightful kitties and dogs and her exciting life in NYC. When i realised that Kieko and i also shared a passion for Horses and were quite similar in temperament i officially thought we were kindred spirits. Then came the overwhelming feeling of being a strange stalker.

Is it strange to try and 'click' with people you have never met? I think so. When i was young i would have three penpals on the go.. forging friendships with kids on other sides of the world. i never thought that was creepy. Why is this any different?

After this little pep talk to myself i decided to email Keiko and explained that i was heading her way in July, she replied and was lovely. We may even be able to plan a catch up while I'm there.

I do still feel a tad strange and for all i know Keiko is scratching her head in New York, thinking who on earth is this chick. But hey we are putting our selves out here in the first place to do this. Right?

Ahhhh Ron Burgundy you are a wonderful man. I think Anchorman is one of my favourite movies. That and The Boondock Saints, two spunky Irish vigilantes, what isn't there to love?

This post isn't about movies fyi, its actually about how I'm going to New York in July. The BF and i have always spoken about going to the Big Apple and with so many distractions coming up in the next few years we figured now was the best time. He has taken 6 months off from uni to pay for the trip. That's right, I'm a kept woman!
The itinerary for the trip is a tad rough at the moment, but in MY mind we will be visiting Bobbi Brown, Sephora, MAC, NARS... and many other beautyish places.
As it will be summer there and the heart of winter here i am rather worried about flashing my flabbyivebeeninhibernation boday to the world. I don't even know if i will be able to dress in my favourite playsuit and don my heels to pound the pavement like this lass.

Amidst the excitement of planning NY outfits and daydreaming about raiding the Bobbi store, i am fretting over what to wear on the plane... I know, i know that i will just be sitting there for 30 hours (30hours!!!) and why should it matter. But i cant go to the local deli without a bit of slap on the mug and wearing a semi presentable Kit so there.
My aim was Jersey sheek... the thought of wearing a soft grey jersey slouch blazer with some harem pants and my fav tan Wittner flats was very appealing. But The hunt for a blazer was sidetracked though when i saw these...

They looked amazing in the campaign, just the right amount of slouch with a skinny leg. Harem meets track meets a tailored leg. I love them, but as i am lacking in the height department they don't quite sit right.
Hmm the search is still on for the perfect plane kit.
